Configurations

The 2019 Mazda3 is available as a hatchback or sedan, plus it comes in four Mazda3 trim levels. The base model Mazda3 includes cloth upholstery, push-button start, a rearview camera, and 7-inch driver information display. The standard infotainment system comes complete with an 8.8-inch display screen, HD radio, Bluetooth, two USB ports and an 8-speaker stereo. The Mazda3 Select comes standard with a leather-wrapped steering wheel, synthetic leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and proximity keyless entry.

With the 2019 Mazda3 Preferred trim, you gain the 12-speaker premium Bose sound system, 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat, satellite radio, heated front seats plus power-adjustable outside mirrors with memory. At the top of the line, there's the Mazda3 Premium. This features leather seats, a head-up display, adaptive headlights, and a moonroof.

Price

The 2019 Mazda3 starts at $21,000 if you want a sedan. The base hatchback model begins at $23,600. Upgrading to the Mazda3 Select changes the starting price to $22,600. Mazda3 Preferred prices start at $24,200 for the sedan and $25,200 for the hatchback model. Finally, the Mazda3 Premium starts at $26,500 for a sedan and $27,500 for a hatchback.

The 2019 Mazda3 hatchback starts at $23,600. The base model adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, synthetic leather upholstery, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay plus proximity keyless entry to the lineup. The fuel economy for the hatchback body style is a smidge lower than the sedan but still puts out great numbers. As with most hatchback models, you have more cargo room at your disposal over the sedan. There isn't a hatchback version of the Mazda3 Select, but you can opt for it in the two higher trim levels.

Performance

The 2019 Mazda3 comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that pumps out 186 horsepower. It also features a six-speed automatic transmission but there is a manual option available on the highest trim level. Standard safety equipment includes a rearview camera on sedan models and automatic high beams, driver attention and drowsiness monitoring, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, rear cross traffic alert, automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning in the hatchback models.

Fuel Economy

The 2.5L automatic 2019 Mazda3 FWD sedan mpg is rated at 27 mpg city and 36 mpg on the highway whereas the 2.5L automatic 2019 Mazda3 FWD hatchback achieves 26 mpg city and 36 mpg highway. If you opt for AWD, you sacrifice some gas mileage. The 2.5L automatic Mazda3 AWD sedan gets 25 mpg/city and 33 mpg/highway compared to the 2.5L automatic Mazda3 AWD hatchback which gets 24 mpg/city and 32 mpg/highway.

Exterior

The dimensions of a 2019 Mazda3 are 176-184″ L x 71″ W x 57″ H depending on whether you choose the hatchback or sedan. Furthermore, there are six exterior color options. Choose from Soul Red Crystal Metallic, Deep Crystal Blue Mica, Jet Black Mica, Snowflake White Pearl Mica, Machine Grey Metallic and Sonic Silver Metallic.

The 2019 Mazda3 seats 5 people comfortably even though it is a compact car. The sedan provides 13.2 cubic feet of storage room while the hatchback opens you up to 20.1 cubic feet of volume.
