Performance
The new Mazda Miata for 2023 comes with a four-cylinder engine that's good for 181 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque. You can get an available automatic transmission that comes with rapid shifts and sporty programming. For many drivers, the standard six-speed manual transmission delivers the most fun per mile. The soft-top version of the new Mazda Miata can get you from zero to 60 mph in just 5.7 seconds. The slightly heavier hardtop RF trim is almost as fast at 5.8 seconds. The shocks and springs in the Club trim give you the firmest ride in the lineup and all models handle well.
For greater performance, there's a Brembo BBS Recaro package available with 17-inch forged BBS wheels, side sill extensions, Brembo front brakes and heated Recaro sport seats. Fuel economy
The latest Mazda Miata is able to achieve better fuel economy partly because of its light weight. That helps the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine give you exceptional EPA fuel economy numbers of up to 26 MPG in the city and 35 MPG on highways around Parker and Monument CO. When the experts at Car and Driver took a pair of new Miata sports cars out for a test drive, the soft top Grand Touring model earned 36 mpg and the hardtop RF Club got all the way up to 37 MPG, both with the six-speed manual transmission.
Design
The cabin of the new Mazda Miata provides a nice, tight fit that accommodates two adults and delivers just the essentials. Seats are well-bolstered and the overall low-slung stance enhances the sense of a sporty driving experience. Materials on the interior are high quality and the steering wheel, shifter, pedals and tachometer are all within easy reach. The trunk provides 4.6 cubic feet of space which is enough for a few grocery bags or a carry-on suitcase.
